The practical consequence: two of the results a founder is most likely to click are not vendors of MVP development at all. That is not a criticism of either company. It is a warning about the search results.

What each firm actually publishes as a price

Most agency pages avoid naming a figure. Some do publish one, so here they are, quoted from each company’s own site in August 2026. This is the part of the comparison nobody else prints.

“Not published” means we did not find a figure on that firm’s home, about or MVP services pages when we checked in August 2026. It does not mean the figure exists nowhere on their site, and a sales conversation will of course produce one. Prices also change, so treat every quote above as accurate on that date and no longer.

Read the floors, not the ceilings. Every firm above that publishes a price for a custom build starts at $35,000 or higher. Only one publishes anything below that, and it is explicitly a no-code or low-code prototype rather than a custom product.

Those floors describe an older market. Two or three years ago a working MVP genuinely did start in the tens of thousands. AI-assisted development, mature component libraries and no-code for the parts that do not need custom engineering have since taken a real product with a narrow core down to the low single-digit thousands. Published vendor pricing has not caught up, which is worth remembering when a $40,000 starting price is quoted at you as though it were a floor rather than a choice about scope.

The question before “which vendor”

An MVP exists to test whether a product is wanted. If a release cannot change your mind about something, it is not doing that job, and no vendor can fix that for you. Decide first what result would make you stop, continue, or change direction. That decision determines scope, and scope determines both of the numbers above.

A related trap: building for the scale you hope for rather than the scale you have. An MVP that works for a hundred users and breaks at ten thousand is a correct MVP. One that took six extra months to survive ten thousand users you do not yet have is not.

What to ask any MVP developer

  • What will we learn, and what would make us stop? If a vendor has no view on this, they are selling you a build, not an MVP.
  • What is out of scope, in writing? The scope that matters is the excluded half.
  • Who owns the code, the repository and the deployment credentials? Settle this before work starts.
  • What happens after launch? An MVP acquires dependencies and users on day one. Agree who is on call before you need one.
  • Which integrations have you actually shipped? General experience with an API is not the same as having been through its certification or rate limits.
