The practical consequence: two of the results a founder is most likely to click are not vendors of MVP development at all. That is not a criticism of either company. It is a warning about the search results.

What each firm actually publishes as a price
Most agency pages avoid naming a figure. Some do publish one, so here they are, quoted from each company’s own site in August 2026. This is the part of the comparison nobody else prints.

“Not published” means we did not find a figure on that firm’s home, about or MVP services pages when we checked in August 2026. It does not mean the figure exists nowhere on their site, and a sales conversation will of course produce one. Prices also change, so treat every quote above as accurate on that date and no longer.
Read the floors, not the ceilings. Those floors describe an older market. Two or three years ago a working MVP genuinely did start in the tens of thousands. AI-assisted development, mature component libraries and no-code for the parts that do not need custom engineering have since taken a real product with a narrow core down to the low single-digit thousands. Published vendor pricing has not caught up, which is worth remembering when a $40,000 starting price is quoted at you as though it were a floor rather than a choice about scope.

One authenticated third-party system can cost more than several screens, and integrations discovered late are the usual reason a budget doubles.
Compliance
Payments, health data or anything regulated adds access control, audit logging and review that a general MVP does not carry.
How settled the data model is
If the domain is well understood you are paying to build. If it is not, you are paying to learn, which is legitimate but should be named up front.
Who owns product decisions
The largest schedule risk is rarely engineering speed. It is a decision that sits unanswered for a week.
