Sustainability Policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026
Version 1.0, approved by Suleman Siddiqui, Chief Strategy Officer, on 16 October 2026.
Sthenos is a small IT services company. Our environmental footprint comes mainly from the electricity our computers and cloud services use, the equipment we buy, and travel. This policy sets out what we commit to and how we will hold ourselves to it.
Our commitments
Work and travel
- We support remote working and remote delivery wherever the client’s needs allow it, and we meet by video unless being in the room genuinely helps the client.
- When travel is needed we choose the lower-impact option where it is practical, such as rail over short-haul flights.
Equipment and energy
- We keep computers and devices in use for as long as they do the job safely, and repair before replacing.
- When equipment reaches the end of its life we wipe it securely and send it to a certified electronics recycler or a refurbisher rather than the general waste stream.
- We set devices to energy-saving modes and switch off equipment that is not needed.
Cloud and software
- When we design and run systems for clients, we size infrastructure to what the work needs and shut down resources that are no longer used. This reduces energy use as well as cost.
- Where a client leaves the choice to us, we prefer cloud regions and providers that publish their energy and emissions data.
Paper and waste
- We run the business on digital documents and electronic signatures, and print only when a client or the law requires it.
Suppliers
- We prefer suppliers who can show their own environmental commitments, and we ask about them when we choose new suppliers.
People and community
- We treat everyone who works with us fairly, pay on time, and do not tolerate discrimination or harassment.
- As a small and diverse business, we support supplier diversity and the growth of other small businesses.
Responsibility and review
Sthenos management, through the Chief Strategy Officer, owns this policy. We review it, and what we have done against it, at least once a year, and update it as the business grows.
