SharePoint consulting services and Microsoft 365 consulting services for organisations whose tenant has grown faster than its governance. Sthenos delivers SharePoint consulting, Microsoft 365 consulting, Office 365 consulting, Azure integration services and dot net development services for enterprise and government teams. We are not a licence reseller, so what we recommend is what you need rather than what carries a margin.
Typical small to mid-sized SharePoint migration, discovery to cutover.
SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform, Entra ID, Purview and Azure.
Every engagement leaves a written governance model, not just a migrated site.
No vendor commission, so the licence tier we advise is the one that fits.
SharePoint consulting services
Most SharePoint problems are not SharePoint problems. They are the absence of a decision about where things live, made three years ago and never revisited. Our SharePoint consulting work starts with the information architecture, because migrating a mess produces a migrated mess.
Where SharePoint engagements actually start
Engagements can start at any of these. Most that start at migration end up doing the first one anyway.
Microsoft 365 consulting and tenant governance
A Microsoft 365 tenant accumulates entropy by design: anyone can create a Team, and every Team quietly creates a site, a group and a mailbox. Microsoft 365 consulting services exist to put boundaries around that without stopping people working.
- Tenant governance model covering site provisioning, naming, ownership, lifecycle and what happens when an owner leaves.
- Teams sprawl remediation, identifying abandoned Teams and the sites and groups behind them, with an archival policy that holds.
- Entra ID and conditional access review, including guest access rules that most tenants have never revisited since rollout.
- Purview data lifecycle: retention labels, sensitivity labels and DLP configured to your actual obligations rather than the default template.
- Copilot readiness, which is mostly a permissions exercise. Copilot surfaces whatever a user can already reach, so over-sharing becomes visible the day it is switched on.
Our Office 365 consulting services and Office 365 consulting engagements cover the same ground for organisations still using that name internally. The Microsoft 365 consulting label changed; the tenant did not.
Azure integration and .NET development
The Microsoft estate rarely stops at the tenant. Azure integration services connect it to everything else, and dot net development services cover the line-of-business applications that sit alongside it.
Azure integration
- Azure integration using Logic Apps, Service Bus and API Management, with retry and dead-letter handling designed rather than defaulted.
- Hybrid connectivity to on-premises systems that are not moving, and are not going to.
- Data movement into Fabric or Synapse where reporting has outgrown Excel exports.
.NET development
- As a dot net development company we build and modernise line-of-business applications on current .NET rather than leaving them on a framework in extended support.
- Legacy WebForms and on-premises SharePoint customisation migrated to supported patterns.
- Integration with the Graph API so applications read the same identity and permission model as the rest of the estate.
How much does SharePoint consulting cost?
Rates track seniority, and project cost tracks content volume and customisation rather than user count. Below is what the market charges and what we charge for the same scope.

Project pricing
Market figures are published 2026 ranges compiled from Abbacus Technologies, EPC Group and Developers.dev. Sthenos figures are our own indicative ranges for the same scope. Your quote is fixed in writing before work begins.
The two factors that move a migration quote most are the number of custom workflows that need rebuilding and whether the source is on-premises SharePoint with heavy customisation. A file-share migration of the same volume is consistently cheaper, and we price the two separately.
How we run a Microsoft 365 engagement
- Tenant and content auditWhat exists, who owns it, what has not been touched in two years, and where permissions are broken. Produces a written inventory.Weeks 1 to 2
- Architecture and governance designThe site structure, the naming and provisioning rules, and the lifecycle policy. Agreed before anything moves.Week 3
- Pilot migrationOne department end to end, including the awkward one. Surfaces the problems while they are still cheap to solve.Weeks 4 to 5
- Phased migrationDepartment by department with reconciliation at each wave, rather than a single weekend cutover carrying all the risk.Weeks 6 to 11
- Adoption and handoverChampion training, documentation and a support window, then your team runs it.Week 12
Every wave reconciles item counts in and out, so nothing is assumed to have arrived.
What to ask any SharePoint consulting company
The best of the SharePoint consulting companies and the worst produce very similar proposals. These questions separate them.
- What will you tell us not to migrate? A partner who plans to move everything is billing by volume, not solving the problem.
- What does the governance model look like at handover? If the answer is a migrated site collection and nothing else, the mess returns within a year.
- Do you resell licences? Ask how that affects the tier they recommend.
- How do you handle permissions remediation? Broken inheritance is the most common and most under-scoped part of these projects.
- Show me a reconciliation report from a past migration. It is the only evidence the content actually arrived.
Frequently asked questions
How much does SharePoint consulting cost per hour?
Published market rates run roughly $90 to $150 for a mid-level consultant and $175 to $350 for a senior consultant or architect. Our rates for the same seniority are shown in the comparison above, and a fixed-price engagement is usually better value than hourly once scope is known.
How long does a SharePoint migration take?
Four to twelve weeks for a small to mid-sized estate under a terabyte with limited customisation. Heavy custom workflows or an on-premises source with legacy solutions extend that, mostly because rebuilding workflows takes longer than moving files.
What is the difference between Office 365 consulting and Microsoft 365 consulting?
Nothing substantive. Microsoft renamed the suite, and Microsoft 365 additionally bundles Windows and Intune in some plans. Organisations use both names, and the underlying work on SharePoint, Teams, Exchange and governance is the same.
Can you fix an existing tenant instead of migrating again?
Usually, and it is normally cheaper. Most tenants need permissions remediation, a governance model and an archival policy rather than another migration. We audit first and say plainly which one you actually need.
Do you help with Copilot rollout?
Yes, and the honest advice is that Copilot readiness is a permissions project. Copilot exposes whatever a user could already open, so over-sharing that nobody noticed becomes visible immediately. We remediate that before enabling it, not after.
Do you work with government agencies?
Yes. Around a third of our work is public sector, including GCC and GCC High environments where the tenant boundaries and compliance obligations differ from commercial. The other two thirds is commercial, with the same delivery method.
