Custom Software Development in Tysons and Northern Virginia

Updated

We build software for organizations in Tysons and across Northern Virginia: new systems, rebuilt legacy systems, cloud platforms, data pipelines and AI features inside products that already exist. Our office is at 1775 Tysons Blvd in McLean.

How to engage us

Three ways to structure the work

If the commercial shape of the work is not settled yet, these are the three available. Tell us the requirement and we will say which one we think fits.

1. Project delivery. You describe the outcome, we own the build. This suits a defined system with a recognisable finish line: a new application, a migration, a modernization with a scope that can be written down.

2. Staff augmentation. Your team is already delivering and needs more hands, or a skill it does not have in house. Our engineers join your process rather than importing ours.

3. Scaled delivery. Where a programme needs more people than a local team can supply, we scale through a formal partnership with NeoSOFT. The commercial relationship stays with Sthenos and the office stays in Tysons.

Our record

What you can check before you call

Our commercial delivery record is public rather than asserted. Sthenos Technologies holds a 5.0 rating across 43 verified reviews on Clutch, written by the organizations we delivered for.

Sthenos Technologies is the trading name of STHENOS LLC, an SBA certified Economically Disadvantaged Woman Owned Small Business and Woman Owned Small Business, with an active SAM.gov registration and CAGE code 9RX92. If that side matters to your organization, the detail is on our Virginia page.

This is the Tysons record a buyer checks first: both addresses, the registrations behind them, what the practice covers from here, and the full list of what is sold from this office.

Every line above is either a public registration you can look up or a figure already published elsewhere on this site. The office is in Tysons, in Fairfax County, Virginia, and the second office is in North Bethesda, in the Maryland suburbs of the Washington DC metro area.

Where in Northern Virginia we work from

The office is at 1775 Tysons Blvd in McLean, which puts it inside Fairfax County. The county’s own site describes Tysons as a county “downtown” served by four Silver Line Metro stations, and that is the practical reason the address matters: a meeting in Tysons is a Metro ride rather than a day out of somebody’s calendar. Fairfax County publishes its own Tysons page if you want the county’s version rather than ours.

Figure 1. The two offices and what the practice covers

A schematic of the two Sthenos offices: the Virginia headquarters in Tysons, McLean, and a second office in North Bethesda, Maryland, with the practice covering Northern Virginia and the wider Commonwealth. Schematic, not to scale, and it shows no distance and no travel time. Every label on it is a sentence published on this page: the two office addresses, the county’s own description of Tysons as a downtown served by four Silver Line Metro stations, the Maryland certificate number, and the coverage sentence this page has carried since before today.

We do not publish a service radius, because a radius on a map tells a buyer nothing about who turns up. What is true is narrower and checkable. The office is in Tysons and that is where our on site work is concentrated. The practice covers Northern Virginia and the wider Commonwealth. There is a second office in North Bethesda, Maryland, in the Maryland suburbs of the Washington DC metro area, and Sthenos Technologies is certified by the State of Maryland as an MBE and SBE under certificate number 26-134. If you want the Commonwealth wide picture, including how public sector buying works here, it is on our Virginia page, and the office itself is on our McLean page.

Buying from a Northern Virginia small business

Public sector and government contractors are one of the four kinds of buyer named above, so the buying question comes up early here. Sthenos Technologies is an SBA-certified Economically Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business and Woman-Owned Small Business, with an active SAM.gov registration, CAGE code 9RX92 and primary NAICS 541511. Whether a particular requirement can be set aside depends on the NAICS code the contracting officer assigns to it, so the quickest answer is to send us the solicitation number and let us check it against our registration.

The detail a contracting office actually needs, including how we can be contracted and what we do and do not hold, is on our government IT services page and our public sector page. The Maryland side, including the state certifications, is on our Maryland page.

Everything we do from this office

The six problems above are how the work arrives. This is the full service list behind them, because the operational and security work is sold from this office too, not only the build, and every one of these is a page you can read before you call.

Software build

Custom software development and software development services, for new systems and for legacy modernization done in stages.

Cloud and data

Cloud consulting and migration and data engineering and analytics, for the hosting, the pipelines and the reporting layer.

AI

AI and agentic systems, built into the product people already use rather than delivered beside it.

Security

Cybersecurity and penetration testing, including the assessment work that produces a control by control gap register rather than a scan report.

Operations

Managed IT services and help desk, for organizations that need the operational layer running as well as the software built.

People

Staff augmentation, where your team is already delivering and needs more hands or a skill it does not have in house.

Business systems

CRM and ERP work, and the integration between them, so quote, order and invoice move between systems without being re-keyed.

How a Sthenos Technologies software project runs from this office

Five steps, each a commitment this site already publishes, in the order the work happens. The only timings are the two the site states: two week sprints, and a first production release that typically lands in three to six months.

Questions

Questions from buyers of custom software

What kinds of software projects does Sthenos take on in Northern Virginia?

New system builds, legacy system modernization, cloud migration and cloud platform work, data engineering, and AI or agentic features added to software that already exists. The common thread is a system somebody has to operate afterwards, not a prototype.

Can you take over a system somebody else built?

Yes. Legacy system modernization is one of the services we sell, and taking over an existing codebase is one of the ways it starts. Send us access to the repository, or a description of the system, and we will tell you what we think it would take.

What are the ways to engage Sthenos?

Three. Project delivery, where we own the build against an outcome. Staff augmentation, where our engineers join your team and work to your standards. Scaled delivery, where a programme is resourced through our formal partnership with NeoSOFT while the relationship stays with Sthenos.

Do you add AI features to software that already exists?

Yes. AI and agentic systems is a service in its own right, and we build it into the product people already use rather than delivering a separate tool alongside it.

Do you only work with companies based in Tysons?

No. The office is in Tysons and that is where our on site work is concentrated, but the practice covers Northern Virginia and the wider Commonwealth, and we run a second office in North Bethesda, Maryland at 11810 Grand Park Avenue, Suite 500, North Bethesda, MD 20852.

How can I check your delivery record before contacting you?

Look us up on Clutch, where we hold a 5.0 rating across 43 verified reviews. The reviews are written by clients and verified by Clutch rather than collected by us.
