Who these terms are between
This website, sthenostechnologies.com, is run by Sthenos LLC, which trades as Sthenos Technologies. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Sthenos LLC. “You” means anyone who visits or uses this website.
Our offices are at 1775 Tysons Blvd, 5th Floor, Suite 04187, McLean, VA 22102 and 11810 Grand Park Avenue, Suite 500, North Bethesda, MD 20852. You can call us on +1 (703) 945-5300 or email us at info@sthenostechnologies.com.
What these terms cover, and what they do not
These terms govern your use of this website. That is all they do.
These terms are not a services agreement. They are not a master services agreement. They are not a statement of work. They do not cover any work we do for you, what that work costs, when it is delivered, who owns what we build, or how either side can end it.
If we do work for you, that work is governed by a separate written agreement signed by both of us. If anything on this page appears to conflict with a signed agreement between us, the signed agreement wins for the work it covers.
Accepting these terms
By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.
These terms apply whether you simply read a page, submit one of our forms, apply for a job, use the AI ROI Calculator, or type a message into the chat assistant.
How we handle your personal information
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through this site, why we collect it, who else handles it, and how long we keep it. These terms do not repeat any of that. Please read the Privacy Policy alongside this page.
The website is information, not an offer
Everything on this site is published to describe what we do. Nothing on it is an offer that you can accept to form a contract, and nothing on it is professional advice for your situation.
Three things on the site are worth calling out:
- The AI ROI Calculator. It produces an estimate from the numbers you type into it. It is an illustration, not a quote, not a forecast, and not a promise of any saving. Your actual results depend on facts the calculator never sees.
- Case studies. These describe work we have done for other clients. They are not a promise that your project will produce a similar outcome.
- Research and report pages. We publish research pages that cite outside sources. We believe the sourcing is accurate on the day we publish, but figures change and sources move. Check the original source before you rely on a figure.
A contract with us starts only when both sides sign a written agreement. Nothing you do on this website creates one.
What you may do on this site
You may read the site, print or save pages for your own reference, and share links to it. You may quote short extracts with credit to Sthenos Technologies and a link back to the page you took them from.
You may also access the site with automated tools to the extent our robots.txt file allows it. That file is published at sthenostechnologies.com/robots.txt, and it currently allows search engine and AI assistant crawlers. If our robots.txt allows what your crawler is doing, this page does not forbid it.
What you must not do
- Break the law, or use the site to help anyone else break the law.
- Copy a substantial part of the site and republish it as your own, or use our content to build a competing offering. The research pages described below are the exception.
- Try to get into any part of the site, server or system you are not meant to reach, or test its security without our written permission.
- Interfere with the site, overload it, or disrupt it for other people.
- Ignore our robots.txt file, or scrape the site in a way that degrades it for other visitors.
- Upload anything harmful, including files carrying malware, through the job application form or any other upload on the site.
- Pretend to be someone else, or claim a connection with us that does not exist.
- Use anything you get from the site to send unsolicited marketing.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trade mark or other notice on the site.
- Frame the site, or present it inside another site in a way that hides where it came from.
- Try to get the chat assistant to ignore its instructions, produce harmful output, or reveal how it is built.
Our content, our name and our logo
We own the text, images, page designs, code, case studies and research on this site, or we use them with permission. It is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
The Sthenos and Sthenos Technologies names and our logo are our marks. Please do not use them without our written permission, except to refer to us accurately, for example when citing a page you are linking to.
Other companies’ names, logos and product marks that appear on this site belong to those companies. Showing them does not mean they endorse us.
Research pages published under an open licence
Some of our research pages carry their own licence, stated on the page itself or in the page’s structured data. Where a page states a licence, that licence governs that page’s content and this section does not cut it back. At the time of writing, our report pages carry a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, which lets you reuse the material if you credit us. Read the licence on the page before you reuse anything, because the licence on a given page can change.
Links and tools from other companies
This site links to other websites and loads tools built by other companies. That currently includes Google reCAPTCHA on our forms, Google Analytics, and Calendly, which the chat assistant loads so it can offer you a meeting slot. The chat assistant also uses an outside AI provider, which our Privacy Policy names.
We do not control those other sites and tools. We are not responsible for their content, their availability, or what they do with information you give them. When you use one, that company’s own terms and privacy policy apply to you. Please read them.
A link from us is not an endorsement.
What you send us
You can send us information through the consultation and contact forms, the job application and referral forms on our careers page, the AI ROI Calculator report request, and the chat assistant. This section covers all of them.
The basic rules
- Only send us information you have the right to send.
- Make sure it is accurate.
- Do not send confidential information, trade secrets, or anything covered by a non-disclosure agreement. Nothing you send through this website is confidential unless we have signed an agreement that says it is. If you need confidentiality, contact us and we will put an agreement in place first.
- Do not send sensitive personal information, such as health records, government identification numbers, or payment card details. We do not need them and we do not want them arriving through a web form.
- Do not send anything unlawful, abusive, defamatory, or infringing.
What we may do with what you send
We use what you send to answer you, to assess a job application, and to run and improve the site. Our Privacy Policy sets out the detail, including how long we keep things.
If you send us a suggestion, an idea or feedback about our website or our services, you agree we may use it without owing you anything and without keeping it confidential. This does not apply to your own project materials, your resume, or anything covered by a signed agreement between us.
Job applications and resumes
Our careers page lets you upload a resume, and it accepts files up to 10 MB. Send only your own materials, or materials you have the candidate’s permission to send if you are referring someone. Do not upload anything belonging to a current or former employer.
The chat assistant
The chat assistant on this site is an AI system. Please read this before you use it.
- It generates its answers. It can be wrong, out of date, or incomplete, and it can sound confident while being wrong. Check anything that matters with a person before you act on it.
- Nothing it says is a quote, a commitment, a price, a delivery date, or a contract. It cannot bind us.
- Nothing it says is legal, financial, tax, medical or other professional advice.
- What you type is sent to our server and to an outside AI provider so the assistant can reply. Do not type anything confidential or sensitive into it.
- It may offer to book a meeting. That booking runs through Calendly, whose own terms apply.
No warranty
WE PROVIDE THIS WEBSITE “AS IS” AND “WITH ALL FAULTS”. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND ABOUT IT, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE AVAILABLE, UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR ERROR FREE, THAT ANY DEFECT WILL BE CORRECTED, THAT THE SITE IS FREE OF HARMFUL CODE, OR THAT ANY CONTENT, ESTIMATE OR CHAT RESPONSE IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR CURRENT.
That wording is capitalised on purpose. Maryland’s version of the Uniform Commercial Code requires that a disclaimer of the implied warranty of merchantability mention merchantability and, in writing, be conspicuous, and it treats phrases like “as is” and “with all faults” as excluding implied warranties. See Maryland Code, Commercial Law section 2-316, subsections (2) and (3)(a), at mgaleg.maryland.gov.
Some places do not allow some of these exclusions. Where that is so, this section applies as far as the law allows and no further.
Limit on what we owe you
This section is a commercial choice we are making, not something the law requires.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages arising out of this website or your use of it, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, lost business or lost goodwill, even if we were told such damages were possible.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims connected with this website will not exceed US $100.
This section does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud.
Nothing in this section applies to work we do for you under a signed agreement. That agreement sets its own limits.
If you cause us a claim
If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used this website, because of something you sent us, or because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including reasonable legal fees. We will tell you promptly about any such claim and will not settle it in a way that binds you without asking you first.
Which law applies and where disputes are heard
This is a commercial choice, not a legal requirement.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its rules on conflicts of law. Any dispute about this website or these terms will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Montgomery County, Maryland, which is the county our North Bethesda office sits in, and both sides agree those courts may hear it.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Changes take effect when we post them, and they are not retroactive.
Please check this page from time to time. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the new version.
Changes to the site
We may change, move or remove any part of this site at any time, and we may stop publishing any page, without notice. We are not obliged to keep any content available.
Reporting a copyright problem
If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, email info@sthenostechnologies.com with the subject line “Copyright notice”.
Federal law sets out what a notice of claimed infringement has to contain. Under 17 U.S.C. section 512(c)(3)(A), a notice must include a physical or electronic signature of a person authorised to act for the copyright owner, identification of the work you say is infringed, identification of the material you say is infringing and enough information for us to find it, contact information for you, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act. The statute is at copyright.gov/title17/92chap5.html.
General points
- If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce part of these terms straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours if our business is sold or reorganised.
- Together with our Privacy Policy, these terms are the whole agreement between us about your use of this website.
